Week of February 11th-15th
Literacy: Next week, we will be starting F&P reading level testing. On weeks of testing, we read chapter books as read alouds to review skills we’ve learned and discussed throughout the year. 1st and 2nd will also continue to learn about pronouns. The kindergarten sight words for next week will be: where, boy, so.
Math: Kindergarten will be working math mountains to show addition and subtraction. 1st grade will be working number to 120 and adding 3 numbers. Continue to practice basic fact cards. 2nd grade will be working on word problems with unknown addends. They will also be opening a snowman shop where they can practice adding and subtracting larger numbers.
Science/social studies: Monday we will celebrating our 100th day of school. If your child did not bring in 10 pieces of a snack today, please send that on Monday. Also on Monday, we will be testing our designed playgrounds to see if they have shelter from the uv light. On Tuesday we will be doing President’s Day activities. Wednesday we will be making our Valentine’s bags and Valentine’s Day cards. On Thursday we will be having our Valentine’s Day party. If your child is in 5k and signed up to bring an item for the party, you can send that in any day next week. Also Valentine’s should not be personalized for each child. Passing them out will go more smoothly if they are not personalized. Your child should still sign their name to show who it is from. There are 50 students in the K-2 cohort.
Please remember to send winter clothes in the winter months. If your child does not come with the proper gear, he/ she will not be able to go to recess or will have to stand on the wall.
2/11- 100th Day of School (please send 10 pieces of a snack such as pretzels, marshmallows, cereal) We will be counting by tens to make our 100th day class snack (if you didn’t send on Friday)
2/14- K-2 Valentine’s Day Party. 5k will be providing the goodies for the party. A sign up genius was sent out. Also, please do not put other students names on valentines to pass out, please include your child’s name as who they are from only. This will make passing them out go quicker.
2/15-PBIS game time with a friend (to practice friendship and cooperation)
