Week of February 4th-8th

Literacy: Next week, 1-2 will be learning about adverbs. Kindergarten will review nouns, verbs, and adjectives. The kindergarten sight words for next week will be: little, girl, her.

Math: Kindergarten will be working on story problems with teen numbers and partners of ten. 1st grade will be working on addition and subtraction facts through 20. Continue to practice basic fact cards. 2nd grade will be working on subtraction with 0 in the ones or tens spot. We will then be transition to modeling subtraction with money. They will also be working on word problems with addition and subtraction using larger numbers.

Science/social studies: Monday we will have our PBIS assembly on friendship/cooperation at 2:45. We will also be reviewing expectations for the classroom. Tuesday we will be doing our final project for the unit (the sun, moon, and stars). Students will be designing and building a playground that is projected from getting too many uv rays. They will be using a variety of materials such as cardboard, paper plates, pipe cleaners, foil , etc. We will be testing these models on Thursday using uv beads that turn colors when they’re exposed to uv rays.

Weekly Updates:

Please remember to send winter clothes in the winter months. If your child does not come with the proper gear, he/ she will not be able to go to recess or will have to stand on the wall.

2/4- PBIS Assembly at 2:45 (friendship/ cooperation & classroom expectations)

2/6- All day 4k (5k will be in with 1st and 2nd for most of the afternoon. They will get playtime with 4k at the end of the day)

2/8- 100th Day of School (please send 10 pieces of a snack such as pretzels, marshmallows, cereal) We will be counting by tens to make our 100th day class snack.

2/14- K-2 Valentine’s Day Party. 5k will be providing the goodies for the party. A sign up genius will be sent out today. Also, please do not put other students names on valentines to pass out, please include your child’s name as who they are from only. This will make passing them out go quicker.
