Week of January 21st-25th
This week we read the story called “The Mitten” by Jan Brett, and did a few activities to go along with it. We laced a mitten and retold the stories using the animals.
We learned the letter Jj, and learned how to manage anger in Second Step. We also had guidance with Mrs. Mundigler. She taught the students about who can touch our private parts, and that it’s to keep them clean and healthy. We also learned about early warning signs if we feel uncomfortable and to tell an adult if that happens.
Next week we will be learning the letter Dd. In Second Step we will be learning how to manage waiting. We will be making a snowman out of a mixture of glue and shaving cream, playing musical chairs with lowercase letters, and making snowmen with the letters in our names.
Reminders: you only need to bring in one abc bag during the week. If you forget a week, no worries. Also don’t forget about our all day 4k on Wednesday, February 6th. If you’re chaperoning the field trip that day, you can come to school with your child at 8:50. The bus will leave at 9 and will return by 12. Parents will then leave, and students will stay until the end of the day. I will send out more details about what our day will entail as it gets closer. Lastly, if you’d like to know how your child did on the KELS assessment, please email me and I will get you the scores.
Have a great weekend and try to stay warm!
