Week of October 1st-5th
Literacy: We have completed the Kewaskum Early Literacy Screener for all students grades k-2. We will be finishing up fastbridge literacy and math testing next week. We do this in order to gain knowledge on each student’s literacy skills and math skills. The results from the KELS and Fastbridge will be shared with you at fall conferences. The mini lessons for literacy time will focus on character and setting. Once kindergarten completes fastbridge testing, they will be introduced to three sight words per week. I will include those sight words in the weekly blog. Kindergarten will also be starting to bring home book bags each night. Please read the book in the bag, sign the log, and return the bag to school each day. They will have the same book for two nights. There are suggestions and tips for reading on the orange sheet in their book bag.
Math: Kindergarten has been working on writing numbers 1-5 and counting objects through 10. You can be working on writing numbers and shapes at home. 1st grade is going to work on adding using pictures. 2nd grade is going to be working on add to and take away word problems.
Social Studies: We will be learning about matter (solid, liquid, gas). This is a Project Lead the Way kit.
