This week we finished up some Easter and rabbit and chick activities. We sequenced the order in which a chick hatches, learned a couple spring poems and practiced our letter of the week (Ww). We also practiced teen number identification and addition and subtraction. In Second Step we practiced speaking up assertively to solve problems on our own. Students were taught to not let others do mean things to them. They should tell the student to stop and tell them that they don't like it when they do that. If that doesn't work, they should tell a teacher.
Next week we will start our unit on transportation. Our focus next week will be on trains, airplanes and hot air balloons. We will also work on size sequencing. We will be learning the letter Xx.
For the rest of the month, we will be reviewing and practicing what we've learned so far in Second Step. Starting in May, we will be doing the last unit which is transitioning to kindergarten.
Next week Thursday, we will be taking a field trip to the West Bend High School to watch the play Alice in Wonderland. If your child is not familiar, it might help to watch the movie or read the book.
Also, our whole school showcase night will be on May 3rd from 6-7pm. 4k-5th grade student's work will be on display in the school. You are invited to come in and take a look around at all of the students projects.
Have a great weekend,
