Week of November 5th-9th
Literacy: Next week we will be continuing Fountas and Pinnell reading level testing for 1st and 2nd grade students. 5k F & P testing is complete. The books in your child’s book bags will be at their reading level. For our mini lessons, we’ll be reading Halloween stories and will focus on the story elements we’ve learned to far this year. We’ll also be reading Nonfiction and Fiction books about bats. Kindergarten sight words will be: the, said, it.
Math: Kindergarten will be working on addition and subtraction number stories and working with numbers 1-10. 1st grade will be working on fact families and vertical equations. 2nd grade will be finishing unit 1 and taking the test, and will be doing a pretest for the unit 2.
Social Studies: We will continue to learn about families (members of your family, diversity, rules, responsibilities, and traditions). We will also be doing a whole school buddy read during social studies on Wednesday.
10/25 & 11/1- K-2 conferences 4-8pm
10/26- K-2 Halloween Party. Since students will be able to wear costumes to the PTO events that night, we’re asking that students DO NOT bring costumes to school. 2nd graders are in charge of bringing in snacks, drinks, and items for this party. Each grade will be in charge of a different holiday.
10/31- Whole school Halloween buddy read. Your child may bring in a flashlight to read with
11/5- PBIS assembly- Core Essential is gratitude.
11/13-K-5th grade Gallery Night and Spaghetti dinner 4:30-6:30
