Week of October 22nd-26th
Literacy: Next week we will be starting Fountas and Pinnell reading level testing on all K-2 students. For our mini lessons, we’ll be reading Halloween stories and will focus on the story elements we’ve learned to far this year. Kindergarten sight words will be: see, in, we. Kindergarten: you should be reading your books in your book bag every night and return them every day. You will have the same book for two nights. Please sign off on the log as well.
Math: Kindergarten has completed unit 1 in math. We will share assessment scores at conferences. The next unit will be on working with numbers 6-10. 1st grade will be working on subtraction drawings and stories. 2nd grade will be working on two step word problems and mixed word problems.
Science: We will be finishing our PLTW unit on matter next week. We will be starting our social studies unit on Family (members of your family, diversity, rules, responsibilities, and traditions).
10/19- Fire safety presentation and stations in the morning.
10/22- ALICE training in the afternoon. We will be practicing school safety drills (intruder in the building).
10/24- Scholastic Book Orders due. All orders must be placed online. Class code is GRP88
10/25 & 11/1- K-2 conferences 4-8pm
10/26- K-2 Halloween Party. Since students will be able to wear costumes to the PTO events that night, we’re asking that students DO NOT bring costumes to school. 2nd graders are in charge of bringing in snacks, drinks, and items for this party. Each grade will be in charge of a different holiday.
11/13-K-5th grade Gallery Night and Spaghetti dinner 4:30-6:30
