Week of Jan 22nd-26th
Math- Kindergarten will be starting unit 4 (working on addition story problems). First grade will be working on adding three numbers in groups of ten. Second grade will be working on story problems, where the starting number is unknown, and comparison story problems.
Literacy- We will be starting Fountas & Pinnell reading level testing next week. It will last 1-2 weeks. During testing we will be reviewing the concepts taught this year through read alouds, and on Raz Kids on the Ipads.
Project Time- Next week students will be making a traveler, that will be fit to live in their assigned environment. The different environments we've been researching are Arctic, Rainforest, African Savannah, and Desert. Each child will design their traveler using specific adaptations (locomotion, food, camouflage, and protection). Some materials your child might want to use are string, cardboard, cotton balls, foil, felt, cloth, foam, Q-tips, plastic wrap, bubble wrap. If you have a few of these items and wouldn't mind sending them in on Monday, we'd appreciate it! We're also looking for volunteers to help with this project Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday from 2:30-3:30, let us know! Thanks!
