Week of 9/25-9/29

Math- Kindergarten will be continuing to work on shapes and writing numbers 1-5. They will also have homework sent home on Monday. It will be due the following Monday. It can be returned early if it's finished. First grade will be working on addition facts and addition story problems. Great job turning in homework on time last week! Keep up the great work. Second grade will be working on add to/take from word problems, where we have to find the unknown.

Literacy- Kindergarten will be continuing the KELS (Kewaskum Early Literacy Screener) to see what level your child is at. This will help us put the students into literacy with students who are at similar levels. First and second grade testing is complete. The results will be communicated with you at conferences. K-2 students will be starting to bring home book bags or reading calendars, depending on the child's reading level. Calendars/ book bag logs should be signed when they read. Books in book bags should be returned and signed daily. Our mini lessons will focus on problem and solution. Kindergarten will also be reviewing character and setting. Kindergarten has now learned 6 sight words. They are: I, a, am, is, on, me. Next week we will be learning the, it, to. We also started handwriting books in literacy centers.

Project Time- Next week we will be learning about communities, and goods and services. If you work at a business in Kewaskum and think we'd be able to tour it, please let us know!
