3-5 Cohort Weekly News
Everyone is a bit more settled in this week. We've had a great time working on writing opinion pieces during our writing time. Students were asked to think about something they feel strongly about and identify 3 reasons that support their opinion statement. We ended our week working on selecting pieces of evidence that help convince our readers that our reasons and statement are something they should agree with!
Math Workshop is really taking shape! The kids are becoming more familiar with the different activities and rotations. Fifth graders are tackling equivalent fractions while fourth graders are focusing on place value and rounding, with the third graders focused on multiplication facts.
Our Reading Workshop is also up and swinging! Students are set in their book club and you should be seeing assignments in their assignment notebooks. We will be checking notebooks for the 100 minutes of reading documented on Monday (9/18). Please be sure to check your child's assignment notebook each night for notes and assignments.
Our science experience is going so well! We are investigating how light impacts the growth of grass. **The pictures of our babies were being difficult. Stay tuned next week for pictures!
