Hello Parents! This is our weekly blog. You will find our lesson plans for the following week. It will be updated by Friday for the following week. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.
Math- Kindergarten math will be working on groups of numbers six through nine. At home, you could have your child practice writing the numbers 6-10. Homework has not started yet. You will see manipulative coming home to practice math with. First grade is working on reviewing basic facts 6-10. Please help your child practice addition and subtraction facts. Homework will come home Monday and will be due by the following Monday. If it's completed early, they can turn it in at any time. Second grade will be continuing to work on math mountain story problems (with teen numbers) and working on finding double facts with math mountains. We will also using coins to add and build sets of ten. All students have logged onto sumdog. For those of you not familiar, Sumdog is a free math program the students will be using throughout the school year. Each student has a login and password, which can be used at home. If your child does not remember his/ her password, please check with his/her teacher.
Literacy- Our K-2 mini lessons will be working on phonemic awareness. We will be continuing our Fountas and Pinnell reading level testing (1st, 2nd, and kindergartners who are ready). Some students will be starting to bring home book bags. Please read the book with your child and record the title of the book, minutes read and return everyday.
Projects: Next week we will be reflecting on our first trip on Monday, and finishing up learning about families on Tuesday and Wednesday (similarities, differences, attributes, etc).
If you are emailing about your child, please include the three of us in your email so we are all on the same page. Attendance emails should also include Rachel Maas (our school secretary).
21st- Picture Day (watch for flyer to come home)
23rd- PTO Sponsored Kickball game 6:30-8:30pm (movie night if weather doesn't cooperate)
