Week of 10/31-11/4

Math-Kdg. math we are working on recognizing shapes and making patterns.  We will also be creating math stories for +/- 1. 1st grade is working on unknown partners within subtraction problems.  More math practice cards will be coming home.  Keep working on basic facts 0-10! Second grade will be starting to look at the expanded form of numbers.  We will also begin to use base ten blocks to solve word problems.  Second graders will also begin to compare numbers within 200.

Literacy- Mrs. Stahl's group will also be introduced to three new sight words: and, in, go. K-2 mini lessons and small groups will focus on asking and answering questions within a text. We will be reading and learning specifically about bats and spiders. 

Projects: This week we finished up our unit on properties of matter. We will be starting our next short unit on citizenship and voting. For our school Gallery Night (Nov. 17th) students will be presenting on what they learned about the properties of matter. 

Conferences are next Thursday night from 4:00-8:00pm. We're looking forward to meeting the rest of you! :)
