February Newsletter

So are we really going to see winter weather on this year's Groundhog Day?!?! If the meteorologist are right, that would mean no shadow and an early spring.  The end of January also indicates that we are just passing the halfway point of the school year. I'm confident you've seen growth in your child's academic progress over the past 90 days

Mindsets - As a district leadership team we've been doing a book study on Carol Dweck's Mindset book.  As a staff we have also been talking about mindsets and what we can do to foster a growth mindset within the classroom.  We'll look to share more information as we go through the year, but we wanted to start with a quick video to  start the dialogue about Mindsets.  Enjoy the video!  If you are interested in more info feel free to reach out to me. Two other great resources for more info on Mindsets visit The Greater Good or Google "Mindsets for parents."

Student Conferences - Just a heads up that parent/student-teacher conferences will be coming up next month in March. These conferences are parent or teacher requested conferences.

Governance Council Updates - Our governance council continues to meet on a monthly basis.  The primary focus over the next two months is marketing and recruitment. We are creating some fliers to share with families and have scheduled two informational events, February 16 and March 10.  Both meetings will start at 6:00pm. As we finalize promotional items and events we'll be sure to share them out via our website and social media. Be sure to note that you can always follow the council meeting by viewing agendas and minutes on the website or attending a meeting.

PTO Updates - Upcoming this month we will be hosting a Skate Country Night, watch for specific dates and information soon! Our Free Money Ambassadors will also be sending home some information regarding a school wide challenge for February. Your child will also be receiving a free i4L T-shirt from the PTO, t-shirt order form coming home Friday 1/29, be sure to return by Tuesday 2/2 to ensure your child receives the correct size t-shirt. Join us for our meeting on February 16 @ 6:30pm. We would enjoy having you!

February is Heart Health Month and later this month we will have a week's worth of project time devoted to heart and health awareness. On February 9th our teachers will be meeting with the 4H coordinator from UW-Extension to see about partnership opportunities with these projects as well as future projects.

Youth Frontiers - We are really excited to inform you that our 4th grade students will once again be joining Addison and Allenton Elementary Schools for a Kindness Retreat on February 11. Last year was the first year that our 4th grade students had this opportunity and it was well received by the staff and students who attended.  Our Kewaskum Middle School 7th grade has had a Youth Frontiers Courage Retreat the past few years - this too has been well received by students & staff.
