Math- Kindergarten is working on groups of five and counting into the teens. They are also beginning to do story problems. 1st grade is working on adding tens and place value. 2nd grade is working on drawing, estimating, and measuring shapes.
Literacy- Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd will be focusing on contractions. We will learn what a contraction is, and looking for them in our reading and writing. You can practice this at home by pointing them out in books at home. Mrs. Stahl's groups new sight words were: look, what, with.
Projects- We have now begun a science based project curriculum called Project Lead the Way. Our first unit was on Animals and Algorithms. This involved mazes, technology, and problem solving skills. This week the students will be doing more exploration activities with scratch jr app. This will take us through Christmas.
- K-2 Christmas party will be on Wednesday, December 23rd. This time we are asking for 1st graders to contribute to the party. Watch for a sign up genius email.
- Boots and snow pants are required for recess if there is snow on the ground. If there is no snow, boots/ snow pants requirement will be determined based on the amount of mud on the playground. We'd suggest you send them both, just in case.
