Another great week is in the books!
The kids have really enjoyed working on their Project Lead The Way projects.  They wrapped up their construction earlier this week and used our extra time with Mrs. Mongin to record a few short videos describing their machines and demonstrating them.  Some groups found that even in the last minutes, engineers and designers have to make split minute decisions that make their projects successful.

After working on creating our projects we had a couple of days to begin learning about maps.  This background knowledge will be extremely helpful as we turn the corner into our next projects, United States Regions.  We will continue learning about map skills through next week.

Students work as a small group to identify features found on globes and maps.

Word work is well underway in our room.  Students were given their individual lists on Monday and have been working with the sorts throughout the week.  Ask your child what the different sorts are that we have been practicing.  They should be able to list quite a few!

Math Workshop has really taken off.  Students are enjoying the variety of math activities and choices they have every day.
